Regional Officers In Attendance: All except Al
Taglang who was on a business trip. The meeting
was chaired by the Secretary.

Members In Attendance: 38

1.0 Old Business/Committee Reports

The Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting. The
minutes were approved as read.

The Treasurer's report was read reflecting activity since the last
meeting, with a closing balance of $20,083.97, copy attached.
The report was approved as presented.

1.1 A motion was introduced to limit the regional meeting to one hour
for general business that affects all disciplines to be followed by
discipline specific meetings. The motion was seconded and
unanimously approved by voice vote.

1.2 Eastern Region Awards Dinner
Scheduled for Sunday Oct. 29. 565 guests expected. Advertising
revenues of almost $1300. Festivities will start with cocktails at
2PM. A discussion regarding revising type of award banquet and
reducing cost to enable more people to attend. The issue will be
revisited at the Spring meeting after this years dinner. Ideas
should be given to committee members.

Dave Berger, Charlie Kirchner, George Maass, Linda Miner,
Jeanne Sincavage, Berny Stringer, Bob Stringer, and Joe
Sacerdote.


1.3 Eastern Region Web Site

There was a brief discussion of the difficulty of transverse the Rsweb. Steve
Hinkle and John Patton will continue to address the issues. The lead address that
should be used is RSweb.org. Comments should be directed to committee
members.

2.0 New Business

2.1 Solicitation for 2003 Regional Sites.
Written bids were accepted for all disciplines. Mail bids will be accepted for 30
days from the date of this meeting.

Artistic/Speed, no bids were presented at the meeting. Written bids were
submitted by two clubs prior to the deadline.

Written Bids were submitted by two clubs at the meeting, one additional bid was
received by the deadline.

2.2 Meet Director Certification

There will be a certification program in Lincoln, NE, March 25-26, 2001.
Candidates should contact Lincoln for details of reservation.


2.3 Board Of Director's Meeting

Charles Kirchner presented an overview of the Fall Board Of Directors Meeting
which was held in Lincoln, NE. With the retirement of George Pickcard and the
hiring of Lou Marciana to replace him major changes are taking place. Copies of
the meeting minutes were not available for distribution as they had not yet been
approved by board members.

The staff of the national office made individual presentations of their scope of
responsibility to the board members. The USA R/S web site has been expanded
to include Email addresses for all national office staff including Lou Marciana,
Executive Director.

Regional and national competitor fees were increased and the two dollar
competitor assessment fee was re-activated for art and speed. The increased
funds will defray the expenses of enabling a Junior World Class teams for art and
speed.

Jay Ingram has been named as National Director for Artistic and Speed Skating.
Jay's email address is also on the web listing.

USA R/S Foundation has issued a grant to re-brand roller skating in the hopes of
getting better press exposure for our sport.

2002 US National Artistic and Speed Championships will be sited in Springfield,
Mass. Springfield Mass wanted to move Nationals from the proposed auditorium
to another site on a college campus, but will honor agreement to have Nationals at
Civic Center. It is expect that a proposed adjacent hotel will be finished.

Discussion of "Senior" nationals for skaters over 25 and/or a Mid-winter
Nationals. A survey will be going out to clubs.

Term limits for Board officers has been passed. Board elects its own officials
every year.

A reminder to all USA members that you may attend Board Meeting. A member
wising to attend should advise of their intentions Lincoln so that space a packet is
available.

2.4 Acknowledgements
